What was your first art studio?

I've been an artist my entire life but didn't realize it until I learned glassblowing.

Until then I just thought of myself as someone who isn't very good at making art. I wasn't a gifted sketch prodigy. I did ceramics for 4 years, mostly thrown pottery on the wheel, but still didn't consider myself an "artist".

Even when I built a business around graphic design, I didn't consider myself an artist.

It wasn't until I took my first glassblowing lesson and fell madly in love with it that I KNEW I was finally an "artist"!

It wasn't about what other people saw in my work, it was about what I saw in ME!

Within a month of that first lesson, I turned our stand alone garage into a home art studio.

It already was prepped for great ventilation because the previous owner of the house grew hops and made beer and then would serve it to all the neighbors from the garage, so it has a huge hole cut through one of the sides and a metal cover had been attached to it.

No matter what happens the rest of my life, I will always LOVE and think so fondly of that glass garage.
